    ARTICLE VIII: COMMITTEES

      Section 1: Special Committees
         a. The Society Chairman may appoint such committees and committee Heads as deemed necessary during that Chairman’s
         
tenure of office. These special committees will continue to function at the discretion of the Executive Committee.

      Section 2: Standing Committees
         a. Nominating Committee
            1. There shall be a Nominating Committee consisting of three members who are elected for a term lasting until the next regular
            meeting. They shall be elected from the membership at the second business session of the regular meeting.
            2. The Nominating Committee Head shall be elected by the members of the committee and shall serve on the Executive Committee.
            3. The principal function of the committee shall be to prepare a slate of candidates for election to the various elective offices of
            the Society.
         b. Membership Committee
            1. There shall be a Membership Committee consisting of the Executive Committee and three members elected at the second
            business session of each regular meeting.
            2. The Membership Committee Head shall be the Vice-Chairman of the Society.
            3. The functions of the committee shall be to consider qualifications of all candidates for membership.
               (a) The committee shall consider the qualifi­cations of all can­didates and will, by a three‑fourths vote, determine those to be
               presented for membership.
               (b) The committee shall consider and approve change in membership status
         c. Scientific Committee
            1. There shall be a Scientific Committee consisting of three members who are appointed by the Chairman.
            2. The Scientific Committee Head shall be appointed by the Society Chairman.
            
3. The Head of this committee shall have the following responsibilities:
               (a) They shall receive abstracts for the next scientific program and shall distribute them to the other members of the committee.
               (b) They shall formulate the scientific program for the next regular meeting.
               (c) He shall obtain a summary from the essayist of each paper presented.
               (d) The Head will also be present at all Executive Committee meetings.
            4. The Scientific Committee shall decide which papers will be presented at the regular meeting.
